Singha All Stars claimed an unlikely 1-0 win against the Red Devils, although it’s early days in pre-season for the Premier League champions, with David Beckham expecting things to click into place when Moyes has a full complement of players at his disposal.
Beckham told Sky Sports: “It’s going to be interesting this year as there have been so many changes throughout the Premier League. Jose (Mourinho) is back and that’s exciting. It’s going to be interesting, but I still think United will win the league. I’m a Manchester United fan!
“It was always going to be difficult job for whoever succeeded Sir Alex because of what the manager has brought to Manchester United, what he has brought to the game.
“But the same players are there and I’m sure a few more will be added over the next few weeks. Being manager of Man United is a great job.”
United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all similarly priced in the title betting, with Moyes having so far made no additional signings to a squad which still retains Wayne Rooney despite the forward’s disaffection at Old Trafford.
Beckham is hoping that Rooney will remain at the club, although Moyes has stated that the player is behind Robin van Persie in the pecking order.
“Wayne can play up on his own, he can play dropped in. Overall my thought on Wayne is, if for any reason we had an injury to Robin van Persie, we’ll need him,” said Moyes.
