Jurgen Klopp has yet to see Daniel Sturridge in action since taking charge of Liverpool although it appears that the forward will enjoy his first game minutes under the German on Saturday evening.
Sturridge has spent most of the season on the sidelines although the England forward has declared himself fit for the weekend clash at the Etihad Stadium where Liverpool face his former club Manchester City.
The player’s hip injury has been followed by a knee complaint, although it appears that Sturridge is raring to go, even if a place on the bench is likelier than a starting position as Klopp looks to ease the forward back into action.
“I’m fit and ready to go and it’s going to be a great time for me,” Sturridge told the club website. “It’s been great under the new manager. I’ve been back training for the past couple of days and I was training when he first arrived.
“It’s an exciting time to be at the club and I’m enjoying working with him and the style of football. It’s important for us to understand what he wants us to do.”
