Sturridge picked up a knock during England training and could miss match

Daniel Sturridge has quickly become one of the more established members of the England team, although the Liverpool man is a doubt for Monday night’s game in Basel.
Sturridge picked up a knock in training on Thursday and now faces an anxious wait to see whether he will be available for the Euro 2016 qualifier, with this fixture representing the most difficult out of all England matches on the road to France.
A post via the team’s official Twitter account, said: “Daniel Sturridge felt an injury in training this morning and will go for a scan this afternoon. He will then be assessed by England medics.”
Sturridge not being available could see Wayne Rooney move into a more advanced position, with Raheem Sterling once again impressing in the hole for England when the captain was withdrawn against Norway.
Rickie Lambert is another potential option in attack, with supporters hoping that Sturridge has nothing more than a knock, although it brings back memories of last season where Brendan Rodgers had an issue with the player committing himself internationally at the expense of the upcoming Merseyside derby.
Gary Cahill also sat out training on Friday with an ankle knock although the Chelsea defender is expected to be back for the crunch match in Basel.
