Chelsea set to capture Everton’s Ross Barkley for £15 million
Antonio Conte excited by the prospect of signing the midfielder who has spent the 2017/18 season injured so far

It’s been clear for some time that Ross Barkley doesn’t have a future at Everton FC, although Chelsea are close to capturing the talented midfielder for a fee in the region of £15 million.
Barkley has been part of the England squad that appeared at the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 European Championship, although he is out of contract with Everton at the end of the season and Chelsea have acted to snap him up.
Last summer, the London club tried to sign the player only for the deal to fall through, although it appears they will capture the 24-year-old in January instead.
“We are talking about an English player, a young player,” Antonio Conte said. “He has good prospects for Chelsea. I think the club decided for this investment also for his contract.
“I think this is a good opportunity for the club to buy this player. For sure he is a good prospect for Chelsea. But I repeat: for news, the club will inform you.
“Don’t forget he had a bad injury, he had surgery,” he said. “This player has not played in seven months. In case this player signs for the club, we must have great patience. We have to hope to recover him very quickly, to try to help us for the rest of the season.”
