Chelsea set to beat Manchester United to Pedro signing
Chelsea swoop to land Barcelona forward, with Manchester United now looking at other targets
August 19th, 2015
Chelsea have made a dismal start to their Premier League title defence, with Jose Mourinho’s team drawing 2-2 with Swansea City before a 3-0 reverse at the Etihad Stadium.
It looks as though the Blues will need to bolster the squad if they are to land successive titles and Chelsea have become overwhelming favourites to sign Pedro after news broke on Wednesday morning that Manchester United are no longer interested in the Spanish international.
It had appeared that Louis van Gaal was going to increase the number of attacking options by signing the 28-year-old although Chelsea have now assumed pole position and it appears the player has decided on a switch to Stamford Bridge.
This comes after news that Pedro had agreed personal terms with United, although Chelsea have clearly been able to offer something above and beyond their Premier League rivals.
Pedro Rodriguez has spent his entire playing career at Barcelona up to now, with the forward having made 51 appearances for the Spain senior team and scored 16 goals.
For Barca, there have been 204 appearances and 58 goals since 2008 although he’s regularly been on the substitute’s bench throughout his career at the Nou Camp and might welcome the opportunity to play a starring role for Chelsea.
