Chelsea ready to make fresh bid for Wayne Rooney
Chelsea travel to Old Trafford on Monday where they could end up being tormented by a player who Jose Mourinho wants to sign before the transfer window closes.

Wayne Rooney has made it clear he wants to leave Manchester United and Mourinho will continue his pursuit of the forward after the Sky-televised clash which will see Chelsea looking to continue their 100% start to the season.
The Blues made it six points from two games after narrowly beating Aston Villa on Wednesday night, with Branislav Ivanovic scoring a controversial winner after the Serbian had previously dodged a red card for elbowing Christian Benteke.
While Mourinho has Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku as strikers at Stamford Bridge, it is clear that he hasn’t given up hope of signing Rooney but will wait until after Monday’s big game before making his next move.
“I don’t want Chelsea to do it before we go there,” said Mourinho. “Everybody in the club, in the board, they agree with me. They share that opinion. I think this period, by the ethical point of view, is a period where we’re going to be quiet.”
Chelsea have the chance to gain a six-point advantage over United on Monday, although Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert was left frustrated by the referee’s failure to award his team a penalty for an apparent handball by John Terry.
