Of course, following League Two Bradford’s famous win at Valley Parade, we’re fully expecting Sky Sports to chuck around many of the above clichés with gay abandon tonight as City prepare to battle their way to the “lottery” of penalty shoot-outs, where they have a very good record (which sort of dispels this idea of penalties being a lottery at all).

Anyway, prepare to tick-off the relevant phrases (as well as any of your own):

  • – “Giant-killing”
  • – “Plucky”
  • – Any reference to Bradford previously being in the Premier League
  • – The term “crisis club” to describe Aston Villa
  • – “The magic of the cup”
  • – Peter Beagrie using the words “passion”, “desire” and “commitment” – in that order
  • – Any reference to Bradford City’s record in penalty shootouts
  • – “Famous win”
  • – Any reference to the “lottery” of penalty shootouts
  • – Comments on the security of Paul Lambert’s job
  • – Reference to Phil Parkinson being approached about the vacant Blackpool job
  • – Reference to Fabien Delph being a “Bradford lad”
  • – “Date with destiny”
  • – “Fixture congestion”
  • – More than one reminder about away goals not counting in the League Cup
  • – Bradford being referred to as “League Two Bradford”
  • – Something to do with the cold
  • – “Battling”
  • – “nail-biting”
