Bournemouth capture Jordon Ibe for £15 million
Cherries break their transfer record to sign Ibe from Liverpool

Jordon Ibe has signed a four-year contract with Bournemouth, with the Dorset club having spent £15 million on a talented winger that was deemed surplus to requirements at Liverpool.
Ibe played several times under Jurgen Klopp last season although with the prospect of first-team football looking a remote one for the coming campaign, then the German has allowed the 20-year-old to leave.
Liverpool’s loss might be the Cherries’ gain, with Ibe clearly capable of blossoming into a top-class winger, with Bournemouth breaking their transfer record to bring the player to the Vitality Stadium.
“We’re delighted to bring Jordon to the football club,” the Bournemouth chief executive, Neill Blake, told the club website. “We’ve now signed five players this summer, all of whom have an abundance of potential. It shows that we’re serious about nurturing talent at this football club and we have the long term in mind when we say we want to stay in the Premier League.”
Even so, many fans will still be puzzled to have seen Matt Ritchie leave for Newcastle United, with the Scottish international having played a key role in helping Bournemouth stay up last season.
Lewis Cook, Lys Mousset, Emerson Hyndman and Nathan Aké are the other players to have arrived at Bournemouth this summer, although Ibe will be a player that gets lots of first-team starts and he’ll hope to continue his development with the Cherries.
