Neymar has been grabbing headlines after Paris Saint-Germain smashed the world transfer record to land the Brazilian, although has the forward jumped off a sinking ship at Nou Camp?
While Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez remain as a potent attacking strikeforce with the Catalan club, it appears that Barcelona are some way short of the mark if you consider the two matches recently played against Real Madrid.
Real came out well on top when claiming a 5-1 aggregate win over their arch-rivals, with Gerard Pique being forced to admit that he feels as though Barca are inferior to the Madrid side for the first time in nine years.
“This is a long process and there is room for improvement but in the nine years that I have been here, it is the first time that I feel inferior to Madrid,” Piqué said.
“We are not in the best moment, either as a team or as a club. We must stay as close as possible and keep moving forwards.”
It appears as though Barcelona are making steps in their attempt to strengthen the team, with Pep Segura the general manager expecting the club to complete deals for Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
“We are discussing their deals but do not know when it will be done,” he told the Catalan television station TV3. “We know we have to strengthen this team and that is what we are doing. We have to help the team.”
