Aston Villa splash the cash to sign £12 million Ross McCormack
McCormack signs for Villans after Norwich City failed to agree price with Fulham
August 3rd, 2016
Aston Villa have swooped to make a statement of intent ahead of the new season starting, with the Midlands club spending £12 million to recruit Ross McCormack.
The Scotland striker has plenty of pedigree at Championship level and it had been thought that Norwich would sign him from Fulham, although the two clubs couldn’t agree a price.
That opened the way for Aston Villa to bid for the striker and McCormack travelled to Birmingham on Wednesday to complete a medical before signing a contract with the club.
McCormack joined Fulham for around £11 million in 2014, making the switch from Leeds United, with the striker having scored 38 league goals in 89 appearances for the Cottagers.
At the age of 29, he still has the potential to keep filling his boots, with McCormack set to become Aston Villa’s fourth signing of the summer.
The bookmakers have reacted by cutting McCormack’s odds to be top Championship scorer, with some firms now as short as 9/1.
