Aston Villa 0 Manchester City 1 – Tevez punishes lacklustre Villans
It’s been a sad sight watching Aston Villa struggling since the season began and it will be a shame if Paul Lambert’s young team are relegated this term.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Villans have the stomach for a fight and this result means they stay 18th in the Premier League with a meagre points tally of 24 from 27 games.
Scoring goals has been a problem for Aston Villa in front of their own supporters this term, with Christian Benteke coming closest for the home side when nodding a corner towards goal only for Carlos Tevez to block the Belgian’s effort.
On the stroke of half-time, Tevez was to poach a goal at the other end after Edin Dzeko had controversially robbed Ciaran Clark of the ball.
It appeared as though the Bosnian fouled the Villa defender before finding his Argentine team-mate, although the latter was composed enough to sidestep Brad Guzan before slotting into a practically empty net.
City had started to increase the pressure as the half wore on, with the Midlands side initially looking bright thanks to the movement of Charles N’Zogbia and Gabby Agbonlahor.
However, Yaya Toure was a typically commanding presence in the centre of midfield and the champions were physically stronger than their opponents, creating chances throughout the game.
It means that the gap at the top of the table is back to twelve points, while Villa are in the relegation zone on goal difference and now face Reading and QPR in the coming weeks.
