Arsenal set to make Gonzalo Higuain their record signing
The Gunners are about to make a real statement of intent by landing the signature of Gonzalo Higuain, with the Real Madrid striker set to sign a four-year-deal at the Emirates Stadium.

Higuain has an impressive strike rate at the Bernabeu, having scored 107 goals in 187 appearances, while the Argentine has also notched 20 times in 32 appearances for his national team.
However, Real Madrid are happy to move on Higuain ahead of the new season and Arsenal are now in pole position to sign the 25-year-old, with the two parties having reached an agreement in principle over personal terms.
Arsene Wenger appears ready to break the Arsenal transfer record to sign the player who would bolster a strikeforce that already boasts Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski. Whether the pair both remain at the club remains to be seen, although Higuain would go a long way to making up for the absence of Robin van Persie.
It appears that Higuain could join Arsenal before 11 July when the team depart for a commercial tour of Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan, although incoming Real manager Carlo Ancelotti will have to approve of the player’s departure from the Bernabeu.
The stage is therefore set for Arsenal to spend £20million plus on a player for the first time in their history, something that would comfortably beat the previous record of £15m for Andrey Arshavin.
