Ba has been linked with a move to Arsenal for the past few months although Arsene Wenger has poured cold water on the possibility of signing the Magpies forward and claims that his team have enough attacking options this season.

“I like Demba Ba, yes,” the Arsenal manager said ahead of his team’s match against Newcastle tomorrow.

“I don’t think [this] is the right place to speak about that, because he plays against us tomorrow.

“I wouldn’t like to put Newcastle or us or him in an uncomfortable position. If you ask me ‘do we sign Demba Ba?’ I say no.”

Even so, that £7.5 million release clause means that Arsenal are one of several clubs that could interest the Newcastle forward, with his representatives making it clear their player was unhappy at the start of the season when Alan Pardew left him on the bench.
