Indeed, it’s a London 1-2-3 at the top of the table, with Tottenham and Chelsea playing out a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane to stay in touch with Arsenal, while Southampton’s impressive opening to the season saw them beat Crystal Palace 2-0.
However, Manchester City were unable to build on last season’s derby win as they went down 3-2 at Aston Villa, while it was even worse news for Manchester United who suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to West Brom.
David Moyes decided to leave Robin van Persie on the bench and the Dutchman was unable to help his team in the final half hour of the match, with the Baggies climbing to tenth in the table after an impressive performance.
Liverpool have the chance to return to the top three if they win at Sunderland on Sunday, with Hull City notching a 1-0 win at home to West Ham to move to seventh in the table.
Meanwhile, Fulham were beaten at home to Cardiff City and Martin Jol is now favourite in the Premier League Sack Race market, with the Cottagers sitting in the relegation zone with the Black Cats and Crystal Palace.
