Arsenal defender apologises for Van Persie shirt swap
Andre Santos hardly covered himself in glory at Old Trafford on Saturday and you might have thought the Brazilian would want to get off the pitch as quickly as possible after an abject performance against Manchester United.

However, Santos could be seen speaking with former team-mate Robin van Persie after the final whistle before the Dutchman whipped his shirt off and gave it to the Arsenal defender, something that has caused criticism among supporters.
He told The Sun: “I’d like to apologise to supporters who felt aggrieved by it.
“Did I think it would cause such a commotion? Of course I didn’t, otherwise I would have told Robin to exchange the shirts away from public view.”
“I spoke about that but I don’t want to make too much of a big story of that,” Arsene Wenger said.
“I believe that was not the right thing to do at all, but that is not an explanation for our bad performance on Saturday.”
It appears that Wenger is going to drop Santos for Tuesday night’s game against Schalke, with the Frenchman looking to make a few changes to the team that lost 2-1 to Manchester United as the Gunners aim to reach the last sixteen of the Champions League.
