Khedira set to follow Alexis Sanchez to the Emirates, with the Gunners closing on the German midfielder

Despite missing the 2014 World Cup final with injury, Sami Khedira played a key role in Germany’s triumph in Brazil and it appears that Arsenal are favourites to land the midfielder’s signature.
Arsenal have already splashed out £30 million on Alexis Sanchez which was a real statement of intent, while Mathieu Debuchy is expected to arrive this week for a fee in the region of £11 million.
Khedira is next on the hit list and the Gunners are confident of wresting the midfielder away from Real Madrid this summer, with the 27-year-old having twelve months left on his contract at the Bernabeu.
The Daily Mail report that a fee upwards of £20m might be required to land the German international’s signature as Arsene Wenger looks to unite Khedira with former Real team-mate Mesut Ozil, while Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski are the other World Cup-winning Germans in the squad.
Arsenal are as short as 1/10 to sign Khedira with the bookies and this signing would surely give supporters hope that they can sustain a title challenge throughout the season without tailing off in the last few months.
Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson claims everyone is buzzing following the arrival of Sanchez, with the Chilean having made the switch from Barcelona last week.
‘He is world class and they are the sort of players you want to see at the club. The squad are buzzing as much as the fans, because if you are going to push on as a club and really compete for things, you need to sign top players,’ Jenkinson said on www.Arsenal.com.
