Chelsea are yet to appoint a permanent replacement to Jose Mourinho, with Guus Hiddink steering the ship between now and the remainder of the season.
However, there have been manoeuvres by the club to sound out potential managers and it appears as though Antonio Conte is open to the prospect of taking what has previously been a poisoned chalice.
Conte is currently manager of the Italian national team and is subsequently preparing for the Euro 2016 campaign where the Azzurri are among the favourites to win the tournament.
However, it appears that Conte could be installed at Stamford Bridge shortly after this summer’s event, with Diego Simeone seemingly the other name in the frame to replace Mourinho.
According to The Guardian, Chelsea are prepared to pay an annual salary of £6.3m to whoever becomes their next manager, with the Italian having won the Serie A title with Juventus on three successive occasions before moving to the national team.
