Zorya v Manchester United tips: Red Devils unbackable on Thursday evening
A win for Manchester United this week and a place in the last-32 of the Europa League is theirs. No pressure then!
December 7th, 2016
It has been hard to know what to expect from Manchester United this season. They can be enjoying emphatic victories over the likes of Fenerbahce and Feyenoord on one hand and struggling against such sides as Stoke City, Burnley and Stoke City on the other. United supporters should be getting used to their rollercoaster ride by now and whilst the Red Devils head into Thursday evening’s clash with Zorya on the back of a six-game unbeaten run, we’re not in the slightest bit confident of them extending this run on Thursday.
In this season’s Europa League, United are certainly making life hard for themselves and they could exit the competition should Thursday evening’s hosts seal the three points this week. United should have been dominant in this group, however whilst they managed comprehensive wins over Feyenoord and Fenerbahce at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’, they have struggled on the road in the competition and suffered defeats to those very sides which they thrashed so emphatically at Old Trafford.
A 2-1 defeat away to Fenerbahce was followed by a 4-0 thrashing of Feyenoord in their last Europa League outing and a such the Red Devils sit second in the group with just a single point separating them from Group A leaders Fenerbahce. Feyenoord sit two points behind in third position and with United enjoying a superior goal difference to their Danish opponents and a better head-to-head record, a draw would be sufficient for Jose Mourinho’s men to progress in the tournament.
United were the winners in the last meeting between themselves and Zorya and the bookmakers feel that they can manage the double on Thursday evening, although at odds go 4/11 for a Red Devils victory we certainly won’t be tempted to back the visitors. Indeed the reverse fixture was a scrappy affair in which Mourinho’s side failed to inspire and given that United are pretty poor away from Old Trafford in this competition, we don’t feel that they will return home with much for their efforts.
That’s not to say that the travelling fans will have nothing to cheer and we do expect United to get on the goal trail. The Red Devils have scored in all but one of their last nine games and Zorya have found the net in each of their Europa League games at home, therefore we’ll be going with Both Teams to Score on Thursday evening.
On the goalscorer front, that man Zlatan Ibrahimovic seems the obvious choice to score at some point. The Swede has been having few problems in front of goal in the past few weeks and he is a best price of 5/6 with Sky Bet to add to his season tally with a goal on Thursday evening.
