Wolverhampton Wanderers v Norwich City tips
Kenny Jackett’s team favourites to begin life back in the Championship with a win
August 8th, 2014
These two teams can compare notes on the rollercoaster that has been their previous few seasons, with Wolves and Norwich having oscillated between the Premier League and League One.
Indeed, there were two leagues separating the sides last season although Wolves cruised to a League One title triumph, while the Canaries suffered relegation and that means the teams line up against each other on Sunday.
Kenny Jackett appears to be doing everything right at Molineux having had to rebuild the squad since arriving and he is confident that his young team can have a strong season back in the Championship.
“Predictions are very hard in any division,” Jackett told the Birmingham Mail. “It is a tough call to predict and I think it is important to look after your own team and concentrate on your own side.
“Look at the teams and the amount that have been in the Premier League – there are a lot of them.
“And as I’ve already said as well don’t write off the promoted sides.
“Both Brentford and Rotherham who came up with us will give everybody a good game and will take points off people.
“It does lend itself towards a traditional Championship season where sides will take points off each other.
“Predictions are tough though and I don’t think I can say this team will be good or that team will have a really strong squad. You end up going back and looking at your own club and thinking what you need to be a threat.
“I think we have got a good way of playing, some good momentum and have set some foundations and groundwork to be a good club and successful as well. We have to carry on with that and work even harder to make sure we are successful.
“It changed and evolved slowly during the course of last season and was definitely built from the back.
“Let’s see if we can work that ball as well as we did in League One in the Championship.
“It will be harder to do but that is the challenge that we want. We have said before that Wolves shouldn’t be frightened of the Championship. We should be respectful but shouldn’t be frightened. We need to carry on and make sure we pick up from where we left off, go and improve again.”
