The dust is still settling on the new Premier League season although it appears as though West Ham and Southampton could be set for mid-table finishes this term.
Sam Allardyce isn’t too popular at the Boleyn Ground although Saturday’s 3-1 win at Selhurst Park suggests that the Hammers have spent well this summer, with Mauro Zarate especially outstanding for West Ham.
Meanwhile, Southampton were unlucky not to get at least a point at Anfield, although Ronald Koeman is looking for improvement after a goalless draw against West Brom.
In short, it’s hard to be too confident about the chances of either side and that is why the draw could be the bet to have.
The Saints look to have a steady defence despite the departure of Lovren, Chambers and Shaw last summer, with Jose Fonte marshaling the back four and likely to stop West Ham largely in their tracks.
