West Ham v Liverpool betting tips – Hammers will end Reds’ FA Cup dreams
West Ham and Liverpool have another chance at reaching the FA Cup fifth round on Tuesday night
February 8th, 2016
Things haven’t been going too well for Liverpool recently, an obvious enough statement perhaps, although their capitulation to Sunderland at the weekend after going two goals ahead was an indication that this really isn’t going to be their season.
Jurgen Klopp was going to be Liverpool’s saviour, or so the fans thought. Realistically, things really don’t appear to have changed much and the Reds head into this cup clash on the back of some less-than-impressive results.
A 5-4 thriller against Norwich City last month was perhaps the game of the season, however they have since failed to win in any competition and they languish just two points above the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Let’s not forget that Klopp’s men are set to appear in the Capital One Cup final, however they will be up against a Manchester City side who will certainly provide very tough opposition and with a European place looking ever more unlikely, progression into the fifth round of the FA Cup would provide the long-suffering fans with something to cheer.
Can this be achieved against a particularly solid West Ham outfit on Tuesday evening? The Hammers have already beaten Liverpool twice this season with the original FA Cup fourth round tie finishing in a goal-less draw between the sides. With that in mind, the Hammers haven’t been beaten at Upton Park since August and they will be in no mood to surrender this excellent home record against a lacklustre Reds side.
Does that mean that we’ll be backing the Hammers to do the business on Tuesday? Indeed it does, with Coral going some 6/4 for a West Ham victory.
Liverpool have returned some impressive wins this season, most notably their 6-1 win away to Southampton in the Capital One Cup and their 5-4 Premier League thriller against Norwich City last month. These aside, things haven’t been too good for Liverpool and we feel that they will struggle to penetrate what will be a tough Hammers rearguard, therefore we’ll be backing a West Ham win-to-nil at 10/3 with Sky Bet.
