West Ham United v Middlesbrough tips: Back goals in east London
The goals will be flowing in east London on Saturday, but avoid the outright winner market
September 30th, 2016
Things have been pretty bad for West Ham since the start of the season, however they got even worse at the weekend when they went down 3-0 to Southampton at the London Stadium, the third time since the start of the season that they have lost in front of their own home fans.
The opportunity presents itself this weekend for the Hammers to return to winning ways once again when they face a Middlesbrough side which are on a three-match losing run at the moment.
The Teessiders have struggled this season with just a solitary win over struggling Sunderland to their name as well as draws against Stoke City and West Brom. To be fair none of these sides are of the highest calibre and we don’t believe that the visitors will see winning ways return when they make the journey to the capital this weekend.
Similarly the Hammers are likely to find the going tough. Slaven Bilic’s men have won just once at their new home this season – this being against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Cup – and we cannot back them with any confidence to find their second win of the season on Saturday afternoon.
Instead we’ll be completely avoiding the outright winner market and looking instead at total goals. Five of West Ham’s six top-flight outings have returned over 2.5 goals and this has also been the case in four of Middlesbrough’s previous five. We believe that this will be the case on Saturday with Betfair going 6/5 that this proves to be the case.
