West Ham United v Arsenal tips: Gunners to return to winning ways
The Gunners will be confident of bouncing back from their 2-0 midweek cup defeat to Southampton. We share their confidence
December 2nd, 2016
The season didn’t start too well for the Gunners as they followed an opening-day 4-3 home defeat to Liverpool with a dour draw at Leicester City. The result of this was further anger amongst a support which was growing increasingly tired of life under Arsene Wenger.
Oh how things can change. Following what has turned out to be a mere blip, Arsenal have gone on to enjoy an unbeaten Premier League run stretching back some twelve matches as well as secure for themselves a place in the last sixteen of the Champions League.
OK so it hasn’t been plain sailing and following the 2-0 defeat to Southampton in the midweek EFL Cup fixture, Wenger will doubtless demand a much improved performance from his side on Saturday evening against a Hammers side which also exited the competition courtesy of a 4-1 thrashing by Manchester United.
Slaven Bilić’s side are on a five-game winless run at the moment and spirits won’t be too high in the West Ham camp. Arsenal should take full advantage of this and with victory possibly lifting the side to the top of the Premier League table (depending on other results) we’ll be backing the visitors to seal the three points this weekend.
The Gunners may be on excellent form at the moment but their strength in attack isn’t mirrored by their performances at the other end, as demonstrated by the midweek cup defeat. Arsenal have leaked goals in each of their previous seven outings and with the Hammers having few concerns in front of goal, we’ll be backing an Arsenal win with both teams scoring at 11/5 with Bet365.
The Anytime Goalscorer market presents us with an obvious choice in the form of Alexis Sanchez, the Chilean having a fine old time of things as he rapidly closes in on his scoring total for 2015/16. He managed a brace against Bournemouth last weekend and he offers decent value at 11/10 with Coral to find the net at some point on Saturday evening.
