Watford v Chelsea betting tips – Goals galore at Vicarage Road
Can Chelsea manage successive Premier League wins when they go head-to-head with Watford tonight?
February 3rd, 2016
Chelsea are enjoying an unbeaten run of seven Premier League games and they are certainly a different side to that which struggled earlier in the season, however their inability to string together back-to-back victories means that they are still sitting in the wrong half of the league table. They can nevertheless head into this clash in high spirits following their FA Cup fourth round exploits, Guus Hiddink’s men thrashing MK Dons to the tune of 5-1, the Blues boss naturally delighted with that result.
“We are delighted. The concentration against the big teams is always high, but in these games you have to be well prepared mentally,” he said. ” They got even, but we reacted very well. What I asked [of the players when he took charge] was what was the contribution they made to be champions last year? I wanted the contribution they did then. I asked the players: ‘what did you do? Let’s try to go back to what your basic skills are.’”
In the Premier League, title hopefuls Arsenal were duly put to the sword 1-0, although we’re still not convinced that Chelsea are backable with confidence to win tonight’s clash. They have been enjoying some much-improved form of late with their draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford followed by wins against Arsenal, MK Dons and Crystal Palace, however question marks still remain following dismal draws against West Brom and Everton.
Indeed, it isn’t so long since Watford left Stamford Bridge with the three points in the bag, although following that excellent win, the Hornets have been utterly inconsistent with three wins and four defeats from their last seven outings. Saying that, those defeats were all against teams in the top five and Chelsea are nowhere near those positions. As such, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Watford get something from this game and we’ll be going with Bet365’s 10/11 for Watford-Draw on the Double Chance market.
There are better bets on this game however and we’ll also be backing Over 2.5 goals at 5/4 with Betfair. Nine of Watford’s last thirteen games have returned at least three goals and the side have had few problems in front of goal. Chelsea are also having few problems in the goalmouth, therefore we’re expecting something of a goalfest tonight.
Talking of goals, who else would we pick to score them but Diego Costa. The Spaniard may have failed to score against the Dons but he represents decent value at 5/4 with BetVictor to find the back of the net at some point this evening. For the home side, Odion Ighalo has rediscovered the art of scoring and looks decent value at 5/2 with Sky Bet to add to his tally tonight.
