Ukraine v Slovenia Tips – Ukrainian defence will be breached this weekend
Ukraine have enjoyed a particularly solid defence of late. Can it hold against Slovenia on Saturday?

Ukraine concluded their qualifying campaign for next year’s European Championships by finishing third in the Group C table, however with only four goals conceded during their ten games, they can consider themselves unlucky not to have qualified automatically for the finals in France.
Nevertheless, they have another chance to proceed in the competition when they take on Slovenia and they will be hopeful of putting behind them the disappointment of losing 1-0 to Spain in their final group outing, a result which scuppered their chances of progression.
As such, the Ukrainians can now gain entry via the back door and the bookmakers fancy their chances. So do we. Mykhaylo Fomenko’s side are resilient in defence and should pose the visitors many problems this weekend, however Slovenia are strong up front also, as England found out when conceding to them both home and away during the qualification campaign. Indeed, Roy Hodgson’s men only slipped three goals in their campaign, all of these to Slovenia and it was only a late Wayne Rooney goal that separated the sides in the away fixture.
The Slovenians can also cause many problems on their travels, as demonstrated when they stormed into a 2-0 lead in Switzerland, only for the hosts on that occasion to surge back with an excellent turnaround to win 3-2 at the final whistle.
Either way, there will be sufficient disparity between Ukraine and Slovenia to allow the home side to clinch a valuable advantage in this first leg match, although the visitors will be confident of finding the back of the net at some point.
