Tottenham v Stoke City tips – Another winless afternoon for Potters
Will it be Spurs or Stoke who get off the mark this weekend? Harry Kane will have the answer.
August 14th, 2015
Both sides were on the receiving end of a 1-0 defeat in their opening Premier League games last weekend, however Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino may be the more confident of the two managers at White Hart Lane on Saturday after seeing his side come close to sealing their first point of the new campaign at Old Trafford.
A Kyle Dempsey own-goal scuppered any hopes of that however and with Spurs remaining short of options up front, it will be left up to Harry Kane to provide firepower for the home side. Indeed, Roberto Soldado’s potential move to Villarreal looks imminent given that he was pictured heading to Spain and Pochettino has confirmed that his first team plans don’t include Emmanuel Adebayor, therefore the only recognised striker remains Kane and we expect him to prove the difference between the sides on Saturday.
Stoke City boss Mark Hughes certainly hasn’t been shy on the summer transfer market with the addition of Xherdan Shaqiri and Ibrahim Afellay providing the Potters boss with plenty of options in attack.
Hughes’ men almost did enough to grab themselves a point against Liverpool in their opening match, however a late Philippe Coutinho goal handed the points to the Reds and Stoke are just one of five Premier League sides who have failed to score in the top flight this term.
With Kane the only real attacking option for the hosts on Saturday, we’ll be backing the England international to provide Spurs with their first points of the new season with the one and only goal of the match.
