Tottenham Hotspur v Sheffield United tips – Clough aiming to make life tough
Sheffield United looking to make things tight at White Hart Lane
January 21st, 2015
Tottenham have a League One team standing in their way of the Capital One Cup final although it’s not just any League One team as Southampton and West Ham have found to their cost this season!
The Blades have been giant-killing for fun over the past couple of seasons, with Nigel Clough’s team up to their usual tricks at Loftus Road in the FA Cup recently although this assignment is a tough one.
The United manager is clearly aiming to make life difficult at White Hart Lane tonight and will arrange for his side to park the bus against their Premier League opponents before edging a potentially tight second leg.
“Our cup record is quite freakish really. It’s something we’re quite proud of. Also, we’ve had our little breaks in the cup when you need them.
“We want to make it as difficult for Spurs as we can in every single way. Because we’re a League One side, we pose a different set of problems to what they are used to week in, week out.
“We play with some width, which I don’t think happens an awful lot in the Premier League. We play with out-and-out wingers at times. We might not do that tonight, though.
“Mark McNulty caused the Southampton centre-halves a lot of problems when Michael Doyle flicked a few in the channels and he got after them. You don’t see those sorts of balls in the Premier League.”
Even so, this Spurs side have been scoring for fun at home this season and have to be backed to get over the line in this first leg, with 2-0 and 3-0 correct scorelines making appeal.
