The safest manager in the Premier League shakes hands with a manager whose position has been described as precarious, although Alan Pardew continues to be backed by club owner Mike Ashley.

Ashley knows that sacking Pardew will result in a bumper compensation deal not to mention the cost of hiring a new manager, although the club’s Premier League status would appear to be under threat after a handful of games.

Saturday’s trip to the Liberty Stadium certainly seems ominous for Newcastle and it’s worth backing the Swans to return to winning ways after a couple of recent defeats.

Garry Monk is doing a steady job with the Welsh club and BetVictor offer tempting odds of 20/23 that Swansea claim victory, having trounced Everton recently in the Capital One Cup.

Indeed, their 1-0 defeat against Southampton was largely attributable to the sending off of Wilfried Bony, while Angel Rangel was dismissed as they played out a goalless draw against Sunderland.

Newcastle can’t be backed to win this game considering they are yet to claim victory all season, with confidence levels low and the odds of 15/4 reflect the visitors’ chances of recording an upset.

Perhaps United can keep things tight in the early stages and it could be worth having a punt on the draw at half-time, with Swansea running out winners by the final whistle, especially with the quality in their midfield department.

Nathan Dyer and Gylfi Sigurdsson should cause plenty of problems, while a rock-solid defence is in place for home games and 11/5 about Swansea winning to nil is a tasty price considering Stoke managed that feat on Monday.
