Swansea City v Crystal Palace tips: Spoils to be shared at Liberty Stadium
A dour clash is in prospect at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon
November 25th, 2016
If ever there were a match to avoid completely when looking at one’s weekend selections, this would almost certainly be it. Neither side has shown even a hint of consistency since the start of the season and picking a winner in this match is akin to predicting who will be exiting the X-Factor on any given weekend (although Honey G wouldn’t be a massive miss as far as we’re concerned).
Crystal Palace’s dreadful start to the season shows no sign of abating any time soon and Alan Pardew will almost certainly be losing some sleep as pundits confidently predict that he will be the next top-flight gaffer to be hunting for a new job. It hardly needs to be said that he will be desperate for a decent result in south Wales on Saturday afternoon.
Given that the Eagles have managed just a single point from their last six outings, perhaps it is a good thing that they are facing a Swansea City side which sit rock-bottom of the Premier League following Sunderland’s recent resurgence. The Swans have managed just six points since the start of the campaign thanks to an opening-day win over newly-promoted Burnley and three subsequent draws. Indeed just two points have been secured at home and Pardew will be confident that his side can at least manage something for their efforts this weekend.
Of the three possible outcomes in this match, the biggest price lies with the draw. Nevertheless this seems the most likely result from a match which isn’t likely to set the pulses racing and which neither side will want to lose. Neither side have shown much fight so far this season and with Alan Pardew and Bob Bradley both amongst the favourites in the ‘Next top-flight boss to be sacked’ market, perhaps a share of the spoils would be the safest thing for both managers to aim for.
