Sunderland v Tottenham Tips – More misery for Black Cats
Winless Sunderland will be braced for a battering on Sunday
September 11th, 2015
Is it really any surprise to see Sunderland sitting bottom of the Premier League table after four games? Ok so they are level on points with Stoke City and arch-rivals Newcastle United with just a single point separating them from this weekend’s rivals Tottenham Hotspur, however they have been desperately poor so far and will be put to the test by a Spurs side desperately seeking their first win of the campaign.
Dick Advocaat may have saved the Wearside club from the drop at the end of last season, but he certainly has his work cut out this term as the Black Cats seek their maiden victory. Indeed, Sunderland have failed to win any of their last seven Premier League matches and haven’t beaten Spurs since 2010 and with this poor record in mind, we won’t be backing the hosts to turn things around with three points on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs haven’t exactly inspired this term either, although they have affirmed themselves as draw specialists with a single point in each of their previous three Premier League matches. They are as yet without the all-important win however and will be confident of getting their season kick-started on Wearside.
Spurs’ excellent record against Sunderland, along with the home side’s very shaky defence means that we’ll be backing the visitors to seal the points in this clash. With all but two of the last ten meetings between these sides producing no more than three goals, we’ll be grabbing ourselves additional value by backing Tottenham to win and less than 3.5 goals.
