Sunderland v Manchester City tips – draw makes appeal at 18/5
Sunderland are a tough nut to crack at the Stadium of Light and will defend like warriors against City
December 2nd, 2014
Manchester City will be without Vincent Kompany and Eliaquim Mangala for Wednesday’s trip to the Stadium of Light and that surely means opposing the champions for the game against Sunderland.
Kompany’s hamstring injury comes at the wrong time of the season for Manuel Pellegrini who now has to consider a new-look central defence pairing against Steven Fletcher on Wednesday night, while Yaya Toure might drop deep as cover.
William Hill go a best price 8/15 about an away win following Sunday’s 3-0 triumph at St Mary’s although while Southampton came out in attack against their fellow high-flyers, we should expect a more pragmatic approach from Sunderland.
The Black Cats know their limits from an attacking point-of-view and delight in these sort of games where they adopt a physical approach, having collected a point from Saturday’s match against Chelsea.
The draw seems like a big price again at 18/5, with Sunderland not in the habit of losing at home under Gus Poyet, with Lee Cattermole sitting deep in front of a defended marshalled by the experienced John O’Shea.
Ultimately, City are the superior team although their over-reliance on Sergio Aguero will not have gone unnoticed by the home side and they can make their point and stop City’s mini-revival.
