It seems like this is the weekend to take on the Champions League teams, with Manchester City and Liverpool there to be opposed on Saturday and the same applies to an Arsenal side who were far from convincing when winning 2-1 in Anderlecht on Wednesday.

Arsene Wenger might have been smiling at the final whistle although it was another shaky performance against modest opposition following a 2-2 draw against Hull last weekend and we can’t be confident that Arsenal will get three points in Wearside on Saturday.

The match will be a lot closer than the odds suggest, with bet365 offering 8/11 about an away win and we’re happy to take the Gunners on, with Sunderland being offered at 9/2 with the same firm and that’s a price worth taking.

Gus Poyet was seething after last weekend’s 8-0 hammering at the hands of Southampton although the Uruguayan will have been putting his team through their paces this week and the Black Cats are actually unbeaten at home this term.

Their last match in front of their own supporters saw Sunderland claim a 3-1 win against Stoke, having previously held Tottenham, Manchester United and Swansea at the Stadium of Light so they are not without a chance.

888sport offer 16/13 about Sunderland or the draw in this game and it looks worth taking considering that Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Mathieu Debuchy are among the players missing, while Theo Walcott is also short of match fitness.

Indeed, we should expect the home side to roll up their sleeves, with Coral going 16/1 about a 1-0 win for the Black Cats which will have the Arsenal critics out in force come the final whistle.
