Stoke City v West Ham tips – Potters set for hatchet job
Mark Hughes will want his Stoke team to nullify a free-scoring Hammers side
October 30th, 2014
This is the sort of match that the Potters relish. Despite losing 3-2 at home to Southampton on Wednesday night, this is the chance to put the reducers on a high-flying team who are set to be missing their star striker.
Diafra Sakho has been scoring a goal per game recently although a shoulder injury renders him doubtful for a clash which will see Sam Allardyce’s team look to follow up that excellent 2-1 victory against Manchester City last weekend.
William Hill offer 23/10 about an away win for the Hammers, with the London side having already registered victories at Palace and Burnley, although getting three points at the Brit could be beyond them.
Stoke have tightened their belts at the Brit in recent weeks, beating Newcastle and Swansea, with the Potters set to graft their way to an important victory considering that their away form isn’t holding up as usual.
Under 2.5 Goals can be backed at 5/6 and the fact that Sakho is missing and Peter Crouch is suspended will reduce both teams’ effectiveness in front of goal, although there is a nagging suspicion that Stoke will find a way to win.
City achieved a 1-0 victory against Newcastle after scoring an early goal and certainly won’t be as open as the set-up which saw Southampton score three times on Wednesday night.
