Stoke City v West Brom Tips – Goals at a premium at the Britannia
A low-scoring encounter will do little to help either side on Saturday afternoon
August 27th, 2015
We may only be three games into the new season, but we’re already getting a glimpse of what the rest of the campaign may bring and it doesn’t bode too well for either of these clubs.
Between them they are winless in the Premier League and by the final whistle on Saturday we expect that still to be the case.
Mark Hughes’ men have stumbled to three successive draws, their latest being against League Two strugglers Luton Town, leading to a lengthy penalty shoot-out in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday evening.
The Potters survived a trip to Carrow Road in their most recent Premier League outing, returning home with a 1-1 draw and we feel that it would be a huge ask to expect them to manage anything more than that at home on Saturday afternoon.
It has been no better for the Baggies this season. In fact, with a single point on the board from their opening three matches, it is hardly a surprise to see them sitting firmly at the bottom of the Premier League pile.
Does this fill us with confidence that this will be an action packed encounter? The simple answer is, No. Against each other, West Brom and Stoke will struggle to add more than one point apiece to their totals with neither side having any real scorers in their respective line-ups.
We might consider a close 1-0 victory for Tony Pulis’ Baggies side, but on second thoughts we’ll swerve this and go for the more likely 0-0 draw instead.
