Stoke City v Watford Tips – Potters will seal the points on Saturday
Mark Hughes' side can steer his side to their fourth successive win this weekend
October 23rd, 2015
Mark Hughes’ men appear to have put their frustrating start to the campaign firmly behind them, the side having notched up four successive wins in all competitions. Of more importance is that the Potters have carried this improvement in form beyond the international break with nine points from their last three league outings.
After failing to impress at the start of the season, Stoke have triumphed over other struggling sides including Aston Villa and Bournemouth and they put Swansea City to the sword on Monday evening in south Wales.
This victory was Stoke’s second on the road without conceding and they displayed an impressive amount of resilience away to Aston Villa and Swansea to win by single goal margins. Jack Buckland has been in excellent form and has produced some very impressive performances, the keeper proving to be pivotal in Stoke’s recent wins given that he has made no less than 39 saves so far since the start of the season, more than any other Premier League keeper.
Should Stoke manage a fourth successive win, it would be the first time that they have achieved that since December 2011, although they will no doubt be aware that they haven’t found the back of the net in their last three Premier League meetings with Watford at the Britannia Stadium.
The Hornets recorded some impressive wins over Newcastle United and Swansea last month, however they are winless since then and boss Quique Flores will still be somewhat frustrated that his side slipped up in what could prove to be decisive matches against both Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
They followed this with a predictable enough defeat to Arsenal, therefore Flores will be desperate to steer his side back to winning ways against a Stoke City side who will head into this match confident of making it four Premier League victories in succession. The Potters posses solidity in defence and can count on Buckland when the rearguard breaks down. Going forward, Stoke possess an abundance of quality players who could cause the visitors no end of problems and we expect the hosts to be clinical in their demolition of the Hornets on Saturday afternoon.
