Stoke City v Watford tips: Back hosts to win-to-nil on Tuesday evening
Stoke City can make a return to winning ways at the Britannia on Tuesday
January 2nd, 2017
The Potters are winless in their last five Premier League outings and they head into Tuesday evening’s match with Watford having suffered emphatic back-to-back losses to both Liverpool (4-1) and Chelsea (4-2) although to be fair these heavy defeats were away from home and they caused many problems for the Premier League top-two. Indeed Stoke City have suffered just a single defeat in their last seven outings at the Britannia Stadium and they will be in high spirits heading into Tuesday night’s encounter.
The visitors go into this fixture on the back of a four-match winless run in the Premier League and their opening match of 2017 ended in a 4-1 hammering to Spurs at Vicarage Road. The side may not be in immediate danger of falling into the bottom three anytime soon but they really do need to start stringing some victories together, however we’re of the opinion that they won’t be helping their cause on Tuesday.
The hosts will be desperate to make a return back to winning ways and tighten up what has been a less-than-solid defence of late. Their last clean sheet came in the goal-less draw against Southampton in mid-December although Watford have failed to score in their last two games on the road with just eight goals being scored away from Vicarage Road this season so far. The Hornets will therefore provide ideal opposition for a Stoke City rearguard which is in real need of boosting its confidence.
