Stoke City v Sunderland tips: Back Arnautovic to score
A scrappy affair is in order when Sunderland visit the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon
October 14th, 2016
Well here’s a fixture which doesn’t exactly set the pulses racing with anticipation. Stoke City have been pretty abysmal since the start of the season and to be fair Sunderland have been no better. Both sides occupy the bottom two places in the Premier League after seven games and there is little to suggest that they will be vacating these positions any time soon.
Nevertheless some credit should be given to a few of Stoke City’s players, most notably Marko Arnautovic and Joe Allen. Allen opened the scoring for Wales in their 2-2 draw with Austria in the recent World Cup qualifier and Arnautovic ensured that his side got a point by scoring both of Austria’s goals in that match.
Indeed, Arnautovic has been a star player since establishing for himself a place in the first team with twelve goals scored last season, these including the games against Manchester City and Chelsea. He has also been putting in some excellent performances and is more than capable of playing at a higher level.
His goal-scoring exploits in last week’s match against Wales will have attracted attention from numerous scouts and the visit of Sunderland on Saturday afternoon will present him with further opportunities to get himself noticed once again.
Sunderland have been pretty woeful this season and look pretty vulnerable at the back, music to the ears of Arnautovic who we’ll be backing on the anytime goalscorer market at the Britannia Stadium.
