Stoke City v Hull City tips: Back goals-galore at the Britannia
Two leaky defences should result in goals-galore in the Potteries
September 20th, 2016
We’re expecting a few goals on Wednesday evening at the Britannia Stadium, not as a result of an attacking approach from either side but more for the manner in which both Stoke City and Hull City are conceding every week.
Stoke City’s defence is pretty woeful and we don’t envisage Hull’s rearguard being much better on Wednesday evening. Indeed the Potters have leaked no less than fourteen goals since the start of the season in the Premier League, this including the four conceded in each of their last two outings against Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.
To be fair, Hull City haven’t been too much better and despite starting the season in decent enough fashion, their four goals conceded at home to Arsenal on Saturday may suggest that they will be letting a few in at the Britannia in this midweek EFL Cup clash.
Hull boss Mike Phelan will be looking for a more thorough performance from his Tigers on Wednesday and he will demand that the likes of Shaun Maloney, Robert Snodgrass and Ahmed Elmohamady fire the balls into the box every chance they get.
Indeed we believe that Hull will have few problems in finding a way through the Potters rearguard although they will likely concede themselves at some point, given that Phelan is rather short of decent defenders with Jake Livermore suspended.
Both sides can create chances to add to the scoreline, however with holes at the back we’ll be backing a few goals at the Britannia in what looks set to be a somewhat scrappy affair.
