St Mirren v Rangers Tips – Gers can maintain 100% record
Rangers look set to clinch their eleventh successive win when they make the short journey to Saint Mirren on Sunday.

Rangers enjoy an eight point cushion at the top of the Scottish Championship with ten wins from their first ten matches, however they have been made to work hard for their points over the past few weeks. They needed two late goals in the final ten minutes to secure the points in their 3-1 victory over Falkirk two weeks ago and a goal in added time was needed to squeeze past Queen of the South after going a goal down. These may be unconvincing wins, but boss Mark Warburton has been full of praise for the resolve of his side as they seek to put to an end their exile from the Scottish Premier League.
“It’s too early to say that was the mark of champions, that would be premature, but I think it shows that there is a good character, resilience and commitment – all the right adjectives,” Warburton said to RangersTV following the victory over Queen of the South.
“You saw the reaction of the players (after the winning goal) and it showed that they are in it together and the targets are really clear and as long as we’re united behind that one goal then we will be OK.”
Rangers needed to display their resolve again in their midweek Petrofac Training Cup clash with Livingston and this weekend’s encounter in Paisley looks set to be another exercise in patience for Rangers and the supporters. St Mirren have started their campaign in decent enough fashion and their back-to-back wins over Livingston and Dunfermline have extended their unbeaten run to four matches. They will be looking to frustrate the visitors and will likely adopt a somewhat negative approach, however Warburton’s side will be expected to live up to their billing as odds-on favourites and take the three points back home with them.
At best odds of 6/17, backing Rangers to win doesn’t exactly offer great value but there are some decent prices available for this clash, perhaps the best of these being 888sport’s 37/19 for a Rangers win and both teams to score. These sides have met already this term with Rangers winning 3-1 and a similar outcome wouldn’t be a huge surprise for us. St Mirren haven’t had too many problems in front of goal this season and the Gers’ rearguard isn’t solid. Given that Warburton’s attacking approach will be leaving openings at the back, we feel that the Buddies can find a way through.
The other bet worthy of consideration is Bet365’s 8/15 for over 2.5 goals on Sunday. All but one of Rangers’ ten wins in the Championship this season have involved at least three goals and we expect that will prove to be the case again this weekend.
