Spain U21 v Italy U21 Preview & Tips
Who will come out on top when Spain face Italy at the Stadion Cracovia on Tuesday evening?
June 26th, 2017
We’ve now reached the business end of the European U21 Championships with just four sides left in the competition. When Spain and Italy face each other on Tuesday, they will already know the identity of their opponents in the final given that England v Germany kick off earlier in the evening.
Spain were the only side to manage a perfect record in the group stages of the tournament with three wins from their opening three games and nine goals scored with just one conceded along the way. Indeed Albert Celades’ side are enjoying an unbeaten run which now stands at twelve matches and with five wins from their last five outings, the Spaniards will be brimming with confidence ahead of this week’s clash with Italy.
Italy will have other ideas however and will be looking to end their winning streak by winning this semi-final clash. The Azzurrini grabbed themselves the vital win when defeating Germany 1-0 in their final group match although to be honest neither side impressed in that match. Coach Luigi Di Biagio will be demanding nothing short of a much improved performance given that Germany effectively gifted them the three points at the weekend and Spain won’t be quite so generous on Tuesday evening.
Italy won’t be the pushovers which many expect them to be, however given their less-than-impressive form it is hard to see them putting up too much of a fight against a Spanish outfit which look hard to beat as things stand.
