Southampton head into this class in the knowledge that they really need to kick-start their campaign following a less than impressive start to the season with just one victory in their opening six top-flight outings.

Manager Ronald Koeman will have been less than happy with the 3-0 defeat to Everton, however of more concern was the Saints’ failure to convert draws against Newcastle, West Brom and Watford into wins.

Indeed, against Manchester United they managed to put the Red Devils’ defence under pressure, although they capitulated through what Koeman called ‘lack of belief’.

The clash with Swansea will be no easy task whatsoever, although Koeman’s side can build upon some impressive home performances. With a 6-0 win over MK Dons in the Capital One Cup earlier this week, the south coast side may be gaining the confidence needed to grab some consistency.

Swansea have also been suffering from inconsistency, despite performing well enough to force Chelsea to a draw and winning against Manchester United last month. Nevertheless, failure to win back-to-back games will have irked boss Gary Monk and the manager will be eager to see his side bounce back from their defeat to Hull City in the Capital One Cup earlier this week.

Nevertheless, the Swans currently sit seventh in the table following their relatively impressive start to the campaign and we should witness some goals from the visitors. We should also expect a few goals from the hosts in what should be an evenly fought contest and whilst each side has the ability to win on Saturday, we feel that a high-scoring draw looks the most likely outcome.
