Southampton v Swansea City tips: Spoils set to be shared at St Mary’s
Southampton are in search of their first win of the season, however they won't find it on Sunday afternoon
September 15th, 2016
It may be pretty early in the season to predict such things, however it would appear that Southampton are in for a rather tough season if their opening four games are anything to go by. The Saints finished in sixth position at the end of 2015/16, an achievement which was rewarded with a place in this season’s Europa League group stages.
Nevertheless, things appear to have taken a downward turn since the departure of former boss Ronald Koeman to Everton and with the Saints still in search of their first win of the Premier League campaign, things aren’t looking too good down at St Mary’s.
Southampton opened the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Watford, however a subsequent draw with Sunderland was sandwiched between defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal and the Saints need to find that first win which could kick-start their campaign. Could it be that they find it against Swansea on Sunday?
The Swans at least have a win already in the bag although it took them 82 minutes to find the winner against a Burnley side which many believe will return back down to the Championship at the end of the season. Nevertheless a win is a win and with four points from four games, Swansea will be confident of finding a way past Southampton this weekend.
They may well find a way past the Saints, however we don’t believe that they will seal the points. Similarly, with Southampton scoring in three of their four Premier League outings so far this season, we expect the hosts to also find the net at some stage in what has all the makings of a draw on Sunday afternoon.
Looking at goalscorers, Leroy Fer has scored in all-but-one of Swansea’s Premier League games since the start of the season and he represents excellent value at 15/2 with Bet365 on the Anytime Goalscorer market.
