Southampton v Stoke tips – 5/4 Graziano Pelle to keep firing
The Saints buzzing after an 8-0 thrashing of Sunderland and they can claim another win at St Mary’s
October 24th, 2014
Southampton have been the surprise package of the Premier League season to date, with few forecasting that they would start so well under Ronald Koeman after losing Mauricio Pochettino and a spate of fantastic players in the summer.
Many were tipping the Saints to be relegated this term although that prospect already looks a remote one after they produced a fantastic 8-0 scoreline against Sunderland last weekend and Koeman expects further improvement from his players.
Southampton are a 4/6 chance with Boylesports to win the game and, while many will consider them to be banker material, Stoke will want to make things difficult for their opponents.
“Maybe (they’ll set up like they did at Man City),” said Koeman.
“Of course, everyone knows after eight games the qualities of the Southampton team and that we score a lot of goals.
“If you make it an open game, try to attack and leave space then it will be a problem for our opponents.
“It’s up to them. We can think about it but it’s for the manager of Stoke to decide how they’ll come and what they’ll plan to do in a tactical way.
“We have to prepare how we like to play. It’s trying to play attractive football, score goals and have good organisation that’s one of the big qualities.
“We have scored a lot of goals but clean sheets are an important thing in football too.”
Graziano Pelle continues to command the headlines and the Italian is a 5/4 chance with betfair to score at any stage which looks an attractive bet, especially if Dusan Tadic can get time on the ball against a Potters side looking to take no prisoners.
Stoke fought their way to a 2-1 win against Swansea last weekend in what was an ill-tempered match, although their attempt to go on the front foot in their last away game resulted in a 3-1 defeat at the Stadium of Light.
Nevertheless, 888sport offer 58/19 about a draw and we know that the visitors won’t be committing men forward in this game as they look to follow up that win against the Swans with a positive result.
