Southampton v Norwich Tips – Saints will struggle to another defeat
Much was expected from the Saints this season. When will this expectation be met?
August 27th, 2015
Southampton haven’t had a good start to the season, at least not in the Premier League. A win tonight would see them through the group stages of the Europa League but on the home front things have been less than rosy.
A 2-2 draw against Newcastle United on the opening day of the season was followed by a 3-0 thrashing at home to Everton. Their plight was confirmed with a dour goal-less draw against Premier League new-boys Watford at the weekend and Ronald Koeman may be wondering where it has all gone wrong.
They go head-to-head with another newly promoted team this weekend and will be desperate for the win which would lift them out of the bottom three. It won’t be coming soon.
The Saints are in real danger of losing to the best of the three promoted teams if they can’t find their feet, and quickly.
The Canaries are starting to enjoy life back at the top table and following their opening day defeat to Crystal Palace they have bounced back in style with a 3-1 win at Sunderland and a creditable enough 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City. Add to that a 2-1 win at Rotherham in the Capital One Cup second round and things are looking pretty good at Carrow Road.
Indeed, boss Alex Neil will be confident of steering his men to a win over a struggling Southampton on Sunday afternoon and we’ll be amongst many who will share his optimism.
