Southampton v Manchester City tips – Saints bubble set to burst
Southampton set to be outclassed by a City team brimming with confidence
November 28th, 2014
Manchester City need to get their skates on if they are to catch up with Chelsea in the Premier League title race this season.
While an average of two points per game isn’t too shabby, it still leaves them eight behind the league leaders and Manuel Pellegrini knows that a winning run from now through Christmas is borderline essential.
A trip to St Mary’s will be tough although City look a decent shout at odds of 7/5 with betfair considering that Southampton are in a false position right now.
Ronald Koeman deserves plaudits for steering the Saints into second place although Monday’s match at Villa Park saw the south coast team struggle to fashion any meaningful chances until Nathaniel Clyne scored a late equaliser.
The momentum from earlier in the season has started to ebb way and Southampton will be up against the sharpest shooter in the land, with Sergio Aguero fresh from scoring a hat-trick against Bayern Munich.
Southampton have conceded just one goal at St Mary’s this term, scoring seventeen times although this is lop-sided considering that twelve of these goals came against Newcastle and Sunderland.
More modest victories have occurred against QPR, Stoke and Leicester, with Graziano Pelle not finding the net in the four top flight encounters, while Shane Long is currently playing out of position.
City have won three of their away games this term and will be all guns blazing against a Saints team whose easy run of fixtures paints something of a distorted picture.
Manchester City to win @ 7/5 with betfair
