Southampton v Aston Villa Tips – Saints will ease past woeful Villa
Back the Saints to do the business at St Mary's tonight
October 28th, 2015
The Villans play their first game without Tim Sherwood as manager on Wednesday evening, however anyone expecting an immediate reaction from the visitors at St Mary’s will likely be disappointed.
Aston Villa have been utterly woeful since the start of the campaign with one draw and a solitary win bringing just four points and a position at the foot of the Premier League table. Ok, so some of the blame for this can be laid at the feet of Sherwood, although the players have certainly been under performing to say the least and must shoulder much of the blame also.
Their only Premier League victory so far this term was a meagre 1-0 defeat of Bournemouth and extra-time was needed to see off Notts County in the last round of this competition.
This sort of poor form will certainly see them come unstuck against what is an extremely good Saints side who are improving after a rather poor start to the season. Indeed, Southampton have defeated reigning champions Chelsea as well as Swansea City with draws against Liverpool and Leicester City in their last four outings. These are certainly excellent results and the Saints will have little fear of a Villa side which are really all over the place at the moment.
Easy pickings it may be and we’ll be backing an emphatic victory for the hosts this evening as they move ever closer to the finals of the Capital One Cup.
