Sheffield United v Southampton tips – Saints should make their class tell
Southampton should book their place in the Capital One Cup semi-finals tonight
December 16th, 2014
=Southampton are struggling at the moment following a fantastic start to the season, although they have a great opportunity to return to winning ways this evening.
Losing 1-0 at Burnley on Saturday means it is now five games without a win and four defeats on the bounce, although the Saints manager is confident that they can return to victorious ways.
“We will try to do that,” Ronald Koeman told the official Southampton website. “It’s always best when you have a bad feeling about a result that your next challenge comes fast, and we have that on Tuesday.”
“It’s an important game and it’s always important to win.
“There’s the possibility of reaching the semi-final, which would be good, but we have to work hard for that. After some defeats, the best thing is always winning games and to come back into good confidence.
“It’s a difficult one,” Koeman continued. “They (Sheffield United) reached the quarter-finals, which means that they have a strong team, but it’s all about our interests and the qualities that we have to put into the game.”
BetVictor go 11/20 about a win for the visitors who are expected to field their strongest possible line-up, with Graziano Pelle set to continue in attack, while Shane Long could return to the starting XI.
Sheffield United will have a good crack at their top flight opponents although their form isn’t exactly sterling coming into the game, having won just one of their last five games.
Perhaps the Blades will find the net during the ninety minutes although it’s a match where the Saints should prosper.
