Scottish Cup Final match preview and betting tips
Will Aberdeen become the one and only side to beat Celtic in their domestic campaign this season?
May 24th, 2017
Brendan Rodgers has enjoyed a remarkable first season at Celtic Park and whilst his new charges stumbled off the starting blocks with a defeat to minnows Lincoln Red Imps in the qualifying stages of the Champions League earlier in the season, things quickly got a whole lot better. Indeed Celtic’s European campaign aside, the Scottish champions have been hugely impressive and with the Scottish Premiership title and Scottish League Cup under their belt, there won’t be many betting against them completing a domestic treble for the first time since 2000/2001.
Only Aberdeen stand in their way and while the Dons will be anxious to deny the Hoops on Saturday afternoon, we don’t really fancy their chances too much. Aberdeen completed an excellent campaign by hammering Partick Thistle to the tune of 6-0 in their final league outing but they have faced Brendan Rodgers’ men some five times already this season and have suffered defeat in each of those meetings.
Aberdeen may be some distance behind Aberdeen but they are nevertheless the ‘best of the rest’ and will certainly give Celtic some meaningful opposition in this encounter. The Dons should find a way past the Hoops defence and grab a consolation goal or two, however we really cannot look past Celtic in this match. The Hoops have banged in no less than 106 Premiership goals since the start of the campaign and with Scott Sinclair bagging 25 in all competitions, we’ll be backing the Celtic marksman to add to the tally by scoring at some point in a Hoops victory at Hampden Park this weekend.
