Rotherham v Burnley Preview – Millers will keep on winning
Rotherham United can clinch a third successive win on Friday
October 1st, 2015
Rotherham didn’t enjoy the best of starts to the new season, failing to win any of their first seven outings, however they appear to be finding their feet and grabbed their first win in their eighth match courtesy of an own-goal by Cardiff City’s Matthew Connolly at the New York Stadium.
They followed up that victory with a 2-0 away win against Birmingham City with goals coming from Tony Andreu and Matt Derbyshire.
Following disagreements between Rotherham’s owners and the management team of Steve Evans and assistant Paul Raynor, first team manager duties will be performed by Eric Black for this match.
A club statement was issued which read: “It became clear that both parties at the present time wished to head in a different direction. The meeting was at all times positive, constructive and straightforward. It was clear that the Chairman and the management team only wanted what they felt was best for Rotherham United Football Club.
“The Club would like to place on record our thanks to Steve and Paul for their huge contribution over the last three and a half years, it has been simply an incredible journey.”
Burnley’s attempt at returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking isn’t going too well with a failure to win the last two outings. They enjoyed an excellent run of four successive wins, although a draw and defeat in the last two matches have dealt them a slight setback and a return to winning ways is a must on Friday.
They head into this fixture on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Reading and will struggle against a Millers side which have kept clean sheets in each of their last three home games against the Clarets, the last Championship meeting seeing Burnley triumph 2-1.
