Roma v Bayer Leverkusen Tips – Expect goals-galore on Wednesday
These two sides served up an eight-goal thriller last time out and the goals could flow again on Wednesday evening
November 3rd, 2015
There has been entertainment galore from these two sides this season and with Barcelona set to run away with Group E top-spot, it remains to be seen who will follow them into the knockout stages of the competition.
The main reason for this lies in the unpredictability of Serie A side Roma, the side scoring aplenty in the Italian top-flight as well as the Champions League but also conceding, especially in Europe.
As a result, Roma are one point behind joint leaders Fiorentina and Inter Milan in Seria A and sit at the bottom of Group E despite opening their campaign with an excellent 1-1 draw against reigning European champions Barcelona, Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi scoring a wonder goal on that occasion.
From there it went very quickly downhill with Rudi Garcia’s men conceding no less than three times against BATE Borisov in the opening thirty minutes of that match, ultimately losing 3-2. They followed this with an eight-goal thriller away to Bayer Leverkusen in their last European outing and we predict another high-scoring encounter ion home soil this week.
Wednesday’s visitors have also been enjoying some high-scoring encounters of late. The Bundesliga side followed that eight-goal epic with a 4-3 home win against Stuttgart and then went on to completely demolish Viktoria Koln 6-0 in a cup tie.
It would perhaps be rash to predict the goals to keep on flowing, however these are two sides who rely on sheer number of goals to seal their wins rather than keeping it tight at the back.
Roma will be forced on the offensive given that they trail the Bundesliga side by two points and they will be feeling that the outcome of this match is pivotal considering that they should beat Boris at home and return from Barcelona with nothing for their troubles, therefore eight points is their realistic target and a win on Wednesday would see them move closer to that target.
